Top Executive from Airbus UK warns country’s competitive edge could be threatened by Brexit

Airbus UK wings Manufacture and design could be jeopardised by more complex border checks and customs costs if British and EU processes do not remain harmonised.

Divisions in other countries are enthusiastic to secure manufacture contracts, Airbus UK Senior vice president Katherine Bennett stated;

 “We do build wings in China now, and believe you me they’re knocking at the door as a result of the situation that we’re in in this country,”

At present Airbus components are sent between plants across the continent thanks to Britain’s place in the customs union, single market and European Aviation Safety Agency. However, the extra complications which arise from Brexit could create difficulty especially when attracting investment.

Furthermore, 15,000 staff work for British Airbus, which is 10 percent of the global workforce. With sites in Broughton, North Wales, Filton, Portsmouth and Stevenage.

A written submission to the committee by ADS Group which represents Britain’s aerospace and defence sector predicts the industry could take a £1.5bn hit from extra customs expenses such as proof of origin and compliance.

SaxonAir and The World Is Yours partner for operation of Hawker 750

Private air charter operator SaxonAir announces the addition of a Hawker 750 midsize jet to their aircraft fleet. The Hawker began operation in late June following a joint management partnership with London based air concierge company The World Is Yours.

The Hawker 750 will be based alongside SaxonAir’s existing Hawker 900XP and 400XP fleet in London Luton, serving to the ever growing London air charter marketplace. London Luton is now one of the top 10 busiest private jet airports in Europe and acts as SaxonAir’s main operating hub airport.

Alex Durand, SaxonAir CEO says ‘The Introduction of another Midsize Hawker aircraft onto the charter fleet gives further flexibility to our clients and partnering with The World Is Yours brings further opportunities that can arise by bringing together two separate but related aviation companies with the same desire to providing a high degree of service and quality to the clientele.’

The World Is Yours offers global aircraft concierge services based within London and partnered with SaxonAir in order to provide commercial charter services with SaxonAir’s worldwide AOC operation. Also holding a strong background in aircraft management, The World Is Yours provides support for privately operated aircraft. Alex Cope, owner of The World Is Yours adds ‘Our clients upgraded from ownership of a light-jet to the larger Hawker and we partnered with SaxonAir due to their Hawker experience and similar client attention detail.  The 750 has excellent capability in range without compromising in the use of smaller private airfields, allowing our clients to get closer to their destination’

The Hawker 750 has a similar executive interior layout and large cabin oval design to the Hawker 900XP with additional advantageous external luggage capacity. The aircraft has recently been refurbished throughout with a luxurious, light interior seating up to 9 passengers with hot food capability from the well-appointed galley area and bright glow white external paintwork.
