Comments Off on SaxonAir Partners with Tree Planting Initiative to Target Net Zero by 2025

SaxonAir have announced tree planters Gone West as their emissions offsetting partner.

The air charter company are focused on addressing its carbon emission responsibilities, searching for solutions to directly replace carbon emissions from their aircraft whilst also creating opportunities for the next generation, who are likely to be most impacted by the reality of climate change.

The company is working with Gone West to plant trees within the UK for every flight, not only actively contributing towards their Sustainability strategy to reach net zero by 2025 but also supporting young people in the UK to earn a living in the current climate.

James Hughes, Founder and Managing Director at Gone West said: “We are proud to partner with SaxonAir and support them in their goal to offset their carbon emissions whilst also giving at-risk youth the chance to come out and try their hand at being a tree planter through our partnership with the Prince’s Trust.”

“Tree planting was deemed essential work in 2020, and we are passionate about ensuring everyone has the opportunity to do their part with our ‘Acorns to Oaks’ initiative, working towards keeping our planet alive.”

SaxonAir’s CEO Alex Durand shared Hughes’ sentiments, adding: “We’re delighted to partner with Gone West, which allows us to take the most direct approach possible – and with their help we now know exactly how many trees we need to plant to offset our carbon emissions.”

“This is the most immediate action we can take right now, and involving the Prince’s Trust by creating opportunities to carry out this work is a particularly pleasing addition to this initiative.”

“Our Sustainability strategy sets us some challenging targets, including targeting net zero by 2025. However, we’re also looking to transform the way we work and interact with our workforce, clients and suppliers in order to achieve this,” he continued.

“The technology just isn’t available to eliminate carbon emissions from our operations, however there are things we can do now to reduce and replace what we use.”

Durand believes that aviation has become an easy target for criticism, distracting from the responsibilities everyone has to contribute towards Net Zero.
