Assistant Accountant

Department: Accounts

Reports to: Accounts Department Manager

Revision Date: August 2018

Main Internal Contacts: Accounts Manager, Department Manager, SFS Manager. Financial Controller

Main External Contacts: All Suppliers and Customers

Purpose of Position

To assist the Accounts Manager with the efficient running of the accounts department.  To help ensure accuracy of the accounting information.  To ensure all suppliers are paid on time.

Essential Job Functions

Supervision of the accounts payable and receivable functions. Ensuring Suppliers are paid in a timely manner

Daily cash management and bank reconciliations.  Production of Weekly/Monthly cash forecasts.

Assist the Accounts manager with preparation of Managed Aircraft reports.

Preparation of management accounts for Saxon Flight Support.

Assist in the preparation of management accounts for other Klyne Air Group companies.

Assist with reconciliation of fuel statements and handling fees.

Assist in reviewing operational costs across the business.

Assist the Financial Controller in financial and business systems development.

Deputise for the Accounts Manager in her absence

Other duties as may be required


Accounting technician or studying for professional qualifications.

Experience in accounts payable functions, producing BACS runs, reconciling statements.

An understanding of the purpose of management accounts.

Experience of accounting software packages.  SAGE 50 an advantage but not essential.

High level user of Microsoft packages, including Excel and Word.

Experience of data manipulation.
